Sometimes things get a bit tough for everyone but I don't think things are bad at all. I'm concentrating on what I do have, such as my very dear friend lending me his computer until I can afford my own. But for the most part, you do what you must to make ends meet, and that means thinking about things like going in on bulk purchases with friends, visiting a high school on the last day of class to go dumpster diving (you can get enough paper and pens to not have to buy them at the store all next year!) or visiting the soup kitchen.
